My philosophy regarding birth is very simple, I want what you want and I am there to support your decisions. I like to keep you informed of all of your available options and offer you information to help you make educated decisions. This is your body, your birth, and your decisions. I would love to learn more about you and your plans for your upcoming birth.
My services include:
An initial free consultation.
· I will meet with you wherever you would like at any point in your pregnancy. It is a good idea to meet at least two months before your due date. At this time we will discuss everything you and your partner expect for your labor and birth. I will share with you everything that I can do for you and answer any questions you have.
· Two (or more) prenatal visits. I will come to your home or meet you at whatever location is convenient. During the visits we will discuss whatever is on your mind. We can work on a birth plan, try out massage and comfort techniques, sample relaxation methods, and discuss what you would like for your birth. We can talk about pregnancy issues and remedies, birth, and newborn care. I am open to however you would like these meetings to go.
Uninterrupted Labor Support
· I am available and on call 24 hours a day. At the first sign of labor, I will be available to discuss what to do next. You will receive continual phone support until you want me to be there with you.
· I can come to your home and help you to labor at home, or I can meet you at the hospital or birth center. You will receive continual emotional and physical support. I will make sure that your partner is as involved as they chose to be.
· I will bring my massage and comfort tools and follow your signals to keep your comfortable and relaxed. My goal is to help you achieve your ideal birth during all stages of labor with positive affirmations and physical support.
· I will make sure you and your partner are aware of what is happening and give all of the information you need to make informed decisions. I will not speak for you or make decisions for you.
Postpartum Care
· I will remain with you and your partner for at least an hour after the birth of your baby.
· I provide encouragement and support in bonding with your new baby. You can also expect assistance with breastfeeding and successful latch.
· We can talk about newborn care and 'what happens next'. I will stay for as long (or as short) as you would like me to after the birth of your baby.
Postpartum Visit
· About 24 hours after your baby’s birth I will come to visit with you.
· I am available to listen to you talk about how you are feeling, discuss any discomforts and help you care for yourself, answer questions about newborn care and breastfeeding.
· We will review your birth experience.
· I offer a second postpartum visit, if you would like me to come to your home to reinforce newborn care and help you with recovery. I will be glad to help you around the house or help you with the baby. At this time I am completely at your disposal.
